Sierra de Andújar Natural Park - Bee-eater Posted: 15 May 2015 02:35 PM PDT campese posted a photo: The province of Jaén in Andalucia is one of Spain's 'greenest' with large areas designated as natural parks. One in particular - the 'Sierra de Andújar Natural Park' - is an impressive area of mediterranean forest in the heart of the 'Sierra Morena', with heights ranging between 300 and 1,300 metres. The 'Sierra de Andújar' has been a renowned site for big game hunting for centuries which indirectly has allowed the survival of the largest population of the endangered Iberian lynx. The preservation of this rare cat is one of the principal goals of the nature reserve which was created in 1989. Other species living in this area are wolves, wild cats, mongooses, imperial eagles, eagle owls and numerous wild boars and deer. A nature lover's delight!
